Russell Hornsby has been slated to play the Denzel Washington role from the 1999 film, “The Bone Collector”, which co-starred Angelina Jolie, about two forensic detectives hunting a serial killer, who called himself – wait for it…The Bone Collector. The pilot for “Lincoln”, named after Denzel’s detective character, Lincoln Rhyme, is a project for NBC, where he previously starred in “Grimm” as Detective Hank Griffin.
Hornsby is less than 6 degrees from Denzel, having costarred with him in the 2016 film adaptation of August Wilson’s “Fences”. You may also recognize Hornsby from other roles, such as Eddie Sutton, on ABC Family’s Lincoln Heights, or more recently as Mav Carter in “The Hate You Give”.
This is a second position role, since Hornsby is already starring in the middling “Proven Innocent” legal drama currently airing on Fox. So, we’ve got two shots to be able to see his wonderful smile on television this fall.
